The Macon County--Tuskegee Public Library is a non-profit, quasi- public organization governed by a five person Board of Trustees. Trustees are appointed by the Macon County Commission to serve a term of four years. The board has charged responsibility for library administration to the Library Director.
Board of Trustees meetings are held monthly and are open to the public. Meetings are generally scheduled for 6.00 p.m., the third Thursday of the month but they are subject to change. Please check this page for the correct date and location of the next board meeting. Copies of the agenda will also be available at the meeting. Meeting minutes are available in the library. Please note that minutes are not approved until the following board meeting and are not posted until approved.
Location:
The library is housed on the first floor of the Charles G. Gomillion Building in Tuskegee, Alabama. The Gomillion Building was named in honor of the lead plaintiff in Gomillion v. Lightfoot, the celebrated U.S. Supreme Court Case that legally ended the practice of gerrymandering. The library is located one block from the central business district in Tuskegee, and is easily accessible by all areas of Macon County.
